Smart Editing Suggestions
Tired of the same old filters and effects on your smartphone pics? I certainly was—until I tried AI filters on my Samsung device. Now, my photos look polished and professional, all thanks to these smart filters.
1
Generative Editing
The generative editing feature on my Samsung smartphone is my favorite. It allows me to edit and transform my photos in ways I never thought possible. With just a few taps, I can remove unwanted objects, adjust the composition, and resize subjects, while the AI algorithm fills in missing areas and blends them into the background.
I no longer fear people photobombing my perfect shot or accidental objects ruining it. It feels like having a professional photo editor right at my fingertips.
To use this feature, follow these steps:
- Open the photo you want to edit in your gallery.
- Tap the Edit icon (a pencil) > Generative edit icon (the blue circle with four stars).
- Use your finger to outline the object you want to move or remove. If necessary, tap Deselect to start over or use the slider at the bottom of the screen to straighten the picture.
- Once you’re pleased with your edits, tap Generate.
The AI intelligently fills in the gaps and adjusts the moved objects. To compare the original image with the new one, touch and hold View original.
Finally, tap Done > Save as Copy to preserve your edited image. You can repeat this process to move or remove multiple objects.

AI Drawing and Sketch to Image
While I’m not much of an artist, I’ve always admired those who can turn their imaginations into beautiful artwork. With Sketch to Image, I can now experience the same sense of creativity and satisfaction. It transforms my rough sketches into beautifully crafted images, thanks to Samsung algorithms.
To use this feature:
- Open the photo in your gallery and tap the Photo Assist icon (it looks like a group of stars).
- On the left side, you will see the option for Sketch to image. Tap on it to enter drawing mode.
- You can now use your finger or an S Pen to draw on the image. There are arrows at the bottom of the screen that allow you to undo and redo.
- To make it easier, you can zoom in and out of the photo using two fingers to pinch and expand the image. Once you’re happy with your sketch, tap the Generate option.
Artificial intelligence then analyzes your sketch and generates multiple versions, each different in style and effect. You can swipe through these generated drawings to find the one you like the most. Once you find the right version, tap Save copy to save it to your device.

Smart Editing Suggestions
Once your sketch is transformed into an image, you can enhance it further with Edit Suggestions. It analyzes your image and suggests improvements through different options.
The first edit suggestion is Remaster. This tool uses artificial intelligence to fix blurry photos, adjusting brightness, contrast, and color settings. It even removes unwanted shadows and reflections, giving your images a polished appearance.
Swipe the directional arrows to compare the original and remastered versions. I personally love using this feature on my old photos to breathe new life into them.
Another interesting edit suggestion is Live effect. It transforms your 2D images into a 3D simulation that appears to move back and forth.
Besides these, there is a Background blur. It blurs the background to highlight the subject in the foreground. You can control the intensity of the blur and adjust it to your liking. Drag the slider back and forth to see the difference in your image.
Sometimes, background blur suggestions don’t pop up like they should. It doesn’t matter if the photo was taken in portrait mode; things like low resolution, poor lighting, or being too close to the background might be the reasons.
To use these edit suggestions:
- Open the Gallery app and pick the image you want to tweak.
- Tap on More (the three dots) and choose Details, or just swipe up.
- You’ll see all available Edit Suggestions options. Try them out and save the results.

Portrait Studio Features
Portrait Studio, a new feature in Samsung’s Galaxy AI, adds a cool artistic spin to your photos. It turns regular selfies into fun cartoon characters like comics, 3D cartoons, watercolors, and sketches while keeping the original vibe.
To try it out:
- Snap a pic or select one from your gallery.
- Tap the Photo Assist (AI icon), then hit the Portrait studio button.
- Pick a style, tap Generate, and let the AI create your unique portrait.
- Tap the download (down arrow) icon or Save copy to save your portrait.
Remember, Portrait Studio is cloud-based, so you’ll need an internet connection and a Samsung login account.
A standout feature of Portrait Studio is its knack for generating 3D avatars in formats like JPG, HEIC (HEIF), BMP, and PNG. Accordingly, you can use these portraits as avatars on social media or even in gaming apps.

Galaxy Enhance-X
Galaxy Enhance-X offers similar features to Edit Suggestions for improving image quality. To use it, download the app from the Galaxy Store and grant the necessary permissions. Once set up, select your picture and the tool you want to use.
The app then displays a before-and-after preview, so you can easily see the changes. If you’re happy with the result, give your AI a thumbs up, then hit Done > Save.
Here are some of my favorite Galaxy Enhance-X features:
- Magic: It’s an all-in-one enhancement tool that reduces noise, improves brightness, and sharpens images for a vivid and clear appearance.
- Fix Blur: This tool sharpens images with lens smudges or minor focus problems and fixes accidental blurry photos.
- Remove reflection: It clears glare and reflections from photos taken in direct sunlight or under bright lights.
- Increase resolution: This tool increases the resolution of old scans or downloaded pictures.
- Denoise: Remove graininess and noise from photos captured in low-light conditions.
- Face: It smooths out skin tones and reduces blemishes, wrinkles, and dark circles for a flawless complexion.
- Fix moire: Remove unwanted patterns or textures that appear in photos of certain fabrics or materials.
- Brighten: Adjusts the brightness and contrast levels to enhance dull or underexposed images.
These are just some of the features I have personally used and found very useful. Yet, there are many more to explore within Samsung’s Galaxy AI. Go ahead and unleash your creativity to elevate your photography skills.
