Traveling can be a chore at the best of times. While the destination is appealing, getting there often isn’t. And that’s especially true when you’re traveling over the holidays, when everyone else is also trying to get from A to B, and back again.
In order to ease the pain of traveling over the holidays, Uber has launched some new features. The headline feature being the introduction of a new UberXXL option, that supersizes your ride if you’re carrying a lot of luggage.
Uber Launches New Features Ahead of the Holidays
In an announcement post on the Uber Newsroom, Uber has launched several new features ahead of the holiday season. All of which are designed for people who need to get to and from the airport with as little fuss as possible.
The most noteworthy new feature is the UberXXL ride option, which is now available for rides to and from 60 airports around the world, including 40 in the US and Canada.
As the name suggests, UberXXL rides offer extra trunk space to accommodate your luggage, as well as room for up to six people. Which makes it perfect for transporting gifts to family members.
Another new feature is UberX Share at airports. While UberX Share is a familiar feature, it’s now available for rides to and from a handful of airports. By sharing with one other rider, you can save up to 25 percent on the standard UberX fare.
Other smaller updates include a Flight Capture feature coming to Uber Reserve, which allows you to book an Uber in advance. This enables riders to enter their flight details, giving Uber the information it needs to recommend the best time to leave, and make changes if the flight gets delayed.
There’s also a new direct route from downtown Manhattan to LaGuardia Airport, and an iPhone widget that means you can request a ride in as little as two taps.
